It was important to me, when making this film, to live by my politics, about diversity and inclusion and access in the industry-even in a small way on a short film shoot. We made sure all HoD meetings included both men and women and we put together an amazingly talented team. And to tackle obstacles to professional access and opportunity, as well as empowering someone regarding the process, we decided on a Directing Mentee position too. As a female director, who came up with a lack of female mentors on the professional shoots I worked on when I started, I wanted to bring an aspiring young female director into the process and along for the ride. (Although shout out to my amazing mentors from film school at nyu grad film -where badass ladies abounded). Thrilled to say that mentee is @ellagracekennedy. Having the opportunity to witness a director's process is an extremely personal and inspiring experience. I have learnt so much already and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to grow creatively myself with Isabella's guidance.
